The curriculum for Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is based on the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards, the Common Core Standards and the curriculum guides developed by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Office for Catholic Schools. These three documents identify what students must know and be able to do by the end of each grade, in each subject area.
Students complete a variety of assessments to demonstrate their learning and understanding of the curriculum including the following standardized tests:
• Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)
• Wisconsin Forward Exam
• Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners (ACCESS for ELLs)
• Woodcock Munoz Language Survey
• Iowa Test of Basics Skills (ITBS) – Middle School Only
• Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE) – Middle School Only

The all-day K4 program focuses on the academic, faith, and social-emotional development of our youngest students. NDSM preschool students benefit from: small classroom sizes, early math and literacy skills, attend specials, enjoy a play-based environment and faith development. Preschool classrooms at NDSM have two adults in the classroom at all times, one classroom teacher and one teacher assistant. Students also enjoy a full day of academic instruction with a mid-day nap and mid-afternoon snack to meet their needs.
