History

Welcome to Notre Dame School of Milwaukee (NDSM), which has been providing Catholic education on the near south side of Milwaukee since 1996. Our journey began with the School Sisters of Notre Dame who set out to provide more educational opportunities to young girls in the vibrant and growing Latino community on Milwaukee’s near south side. With the support of PAVE and a dedicated group of Milwaukee-area business executives, the School Sisters of Notre Dame began their journey as Notre Dame School of Milwaukee with 26 Latina students. Through the years, NDSM has grown rapidly and is now a K3 to 8th grade school serving over 690 students. Inspired by the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, we’ve consistently aligned our efforts with the evolving needs of our community, while always staying rooted in our faith.

In a landmark step after 17 years of academic accomplishments, our strategic plan led us to expand our all-girls middle school into a coed primary school, a decision aimed at preparing incoming fifth graders for the challenges of rigorous academic pursuits. Thus, in August 2012, Notre Dame Primary School welcomed its first eager primary school students.

Continuing to respond to the needs of our NDSM parents and community, who sought the same education for their sons, we opened a boys middle school program in 2018 which was initially housed in our coed primary school. This addition thoughtfully preserved our single-gender model for young adolescents. As our boys middle school flourished and grew, we achieved another milestone by recently adding a third campus: St. Florian Campus. Today, Notre Dame School of Milwaukee operates across three campuses, offering three distinct programs that collectively serve more than 690 students:

  • Blessed Theresa Campus: Girls middle school – 1420 W. Scott St., Milwaukee
  • Saint Florian Campus: Boys middle school -1215 S. 45th St., West Milwaukee
  • Mother Caroline Campus: Coed primary school – 1425 S. 26th St., Milwaukee

Our commitment to excellence in education, grounded in the values of community, faith, and family commitment, continue to drive us forward. At Notre Dame School of Milwaukee, we aspire to empower students to reach their full potential, fostering an environment that serves the whole child. Join us to be apart of the Notre Dame Difference as we inspire community transformation, one student at a time.
