NDSM After School Program

Extending Learning and Leadership Beyond the School Day

At Notre Dame School of Milwaukee (NDSM), learning continues long after the last bell rings. Our After School Program for middle school students provides a safe, structured, and faith-filled environment where students can complete homework, explore interests, and build leadership skills.

For families of primary school students (K3–4th grade), NDSM proudly partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, offering high-quality after-school care that aligns with our mission of supporting the whole child.

Purpose and Overview

The NDSM After School Program extends our mission beyond the classroom, providing middle school students with meaningful opportunities to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Guided by caring staff, the program emphasizes academic support, enrichment, and personal development rooted in our core values of Respect, Regalo, and Responsibility.

Students learn to balance independence with responsibility — discovering their gifts and using them to serve others.

Program Components

Students in the NDSM After School Program have access to a variety of engaging options, offered by both NDSM staff and community partners. These programs are designed to support the whole child — balancing academics, creativity, physical activity, and faith formation in a safe and nurturing environment.

Academic Support

Through the After School Program, students have the opportunity to receive additional academic support through tutoring or by participating in an academics-focused program, such as Math Club.

  • Teachers collaborate with after-school leaders to reinforce classroom learning.
  • Quiet study spaces help students stay focused and organized as they complete assignments.

This flexible approach allows students to balance academic growth with creativity, recreation, and faith-based activities.

Clubs and Enrichment

After homework time, students participate in clubs that nurture creativity, leadership, and collaboration. Offerings vary by semester and may include:

  • STEM & Robotics – hands-on problem solving and innovation
  • Arts & Creativity – painting, crafts, and visual storytelling
  • Sports & Fitness – open gym, intramurals, and team-building activities
  • Music & Dance – rhythm, movement, and self-expression
  • Service & Leadership – faith-based projects and mentoring opportunities

These experiences build confidence, teamwork, and curiosity — preparing students for success in high school and beyond.

Faith & Reflection

Students also have the opportunity to participate in faith-based clubs and activities, such as the Shalom Club, where they plan service projects and grow as leaders in faith. These experiences help students develop empathy, mindfulness, and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve others with joy and humility.

At Notre Dame School of Milwaukee, students are shaped in mind, heart, and spirit. Beyond academics, I learned the importance of giving back, respecting others, and using my gifts with purpose. These values become part of who you are as an NDSM student and graduate—and they inspire us to lead, uplift others, and build a brighter future for the next generation.
